Yes it could be used on a coated wire shelf IF the wires run side to side on the shelf NOT front to back because the wires that hold up this shelf are just single wires.

Mine is about 3" deep from bottom of shelf to bottom of rack and roughly 11" square.
It’s always been a hassle for me to access my food wraps. Now they will be readily accessible.
Looks useful in a number of places where extra, lightweight storage is needed.
Something to save space.
