this is a good clock and yes, the birds do sound lifelike. a little while after i got the clock, i had my windows
open during the summer and i heard a bird chirpping so i looked out the window but didn't see the bird no
matter how hard i looked. then i realized it was the clock! LOL!! very lifelike!
The clock I bought looks exactly like the picture. I like the clock, but it is very small. I have it sitting on the counter instead of hanging it on the wall. The bird calls will not sound if the room is too dark. I used to have a much larger clock; still hunting for one. I do like this clock...trying to learn different bird calls.
Of course you need to install the batteries correctly and follow the instructions on the paper included with clock. It has to be set at a certain time for the bird songs to come on at the correct time. I love mine and I'm sure you will love yours also.
Thank you for your question. This clock has an 8" diameter. We hope this information will be of help to you.

It is battery operated; I don't know about replacing the movement since we didn't intend to do that.

Love this clock. Have had one that needs to be replaced after 20 years. Happy to find it online!
My late mother had one for almost 20 years and it quit working last week. My father has been so used to the chirping sounds that I had to replace it for him. So glad I found it!
My old one is wearing out--30 some years old.
I use this clock as a reward for any student that gets 100% on the NY State exam in Earth Science.
