The Resurrection Plant™ (Selaginella lepidophylla), also known as the Rose of Jericho, is an amazing plant that can live for up to 50 years in its dormant stage. During dry seasons, this fern's branches curl up into a ball and turn brown; when exposed to water, this "miracle" plant opens up and transforms itself into a lush fern. Resurrection Plants are fantastic teaching moments for science classes or can even be incorporated into Sunday school class lessons during Easter time. The Resurrection Plant care requires little to no care to maintain and will stay in its active state as long as it is in water.
The Resurrection Plant should be placed in natural light because it does not thrive in fluorescent lighting. When you order this item from Miles Kimball, you'll receive the dormant Resurrection Plant. Upon arrival, place the dormant plant into a small bowl of water — the fern's branches will expand in a matter of hours and will eventually turn green. During the Resurrection Plant's first week of growth, it should be rinsed daily to prevent odor. When kept at cold temperatures for prolonged periods, the Resurrection Plant may develop mold. For this reason, it is best to keep them in warmer areas in your home.
