Does this open from the back or front?
The back is held on with screws. It's like a really deep picture frame. You take off the back, drop in the flag, then put the back and the screws back in. It's very secure and keeps the dust out. The plaque has peel and stick adhesive and you place it yourself. Solid, nice looking, I'm pleased with it.
would you put the flag in the case?
The case is excellent for displaying a flag presented at a military honors funeral. It is nice quality and folded flag fits perfectly. Rosemary J.
On the engraved plaque, am I allowed 50 letters/spaces per line or in total?
you can enter in full name, first middle and last and dates to and from and what infantry, etc. I purchased this item but keep in mind the name plaque is found in the shipping envelop on the outside of the box so don't through this away, very nice item and looks very professional for price.
