        Would not recommend for turning hot food while cooking, handles are really short. The locking things moves down handle while using. I think they would work great for appetizer trays.

              they could be just a little bit longer....I bought these to turn meats and chicken when frying and the grease splatters on your fingers cause they are so short.....but I am keeping them cause I love the colors and I am sure I will use them alot for other things

                I ordered 2 sets originally for the Christmas baskets and i liked them and kept 1 set. We used the tongs on thanksgiving and everyone commented about the great colors and the ease of use.
                We used one for the salad, one for the fresh veggie tray and one for the sliced turkey, they worked great and I ordered another set after the holidays to put in the Christmas baskets.

                  I use these tongs many times a day while cooking~ turning eggs, burgers, fish, chicken, mixing salads, serving salads, holding food still to be sliced safely. My daughter saw me using them and wanted a set. I got her one, and she was so excited to have it. My 3-year old granddaughter, Madeline, likes to use it to retrieve pickles from the jar. Very ingenious!
