      I have used the spill guard when I cook oatmeal, rice and artichokes. It prevents the overflow from going down into the burner area (it stays in the spill guard) which is such a pain to clean. I use this spill guard nearly every day. I rinse it immediately after use to prevent the food from sticking. I only wish that I could have been given a color choice.

          This definitely does prevent boil overs on all types of food and eliminated messy cleanups i've had in the past. It is very easy to clean and store, has handles but remove from your pots carefully as it does get very hot..I plan to buy more of these for gifts!
