When my husband installed it, the plastic caps covering the screws broke, then he sat on it and the lid broke in half, plus the padding is really thin.
The ideal seat....love it?

once a teeny tiny split occurs, you might as well toss it. even tape is uncomfortable on bare skin! they are nice while they last.
